LNG Prices Increased in Pakistan

LNG Prices Increased in Pakistan Just before the start of the winter season, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced an increase in the prices of imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) for October 2025.

According to the latest notification issued by OGRA, LNG prices have gone up for both Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) consumers.

Reason Behind the Increase

Officials from OGRA stated that the price hike has been implemented due to a rise in global LNG costs, driven by increasing international demand and supply chain adjustments ahead of the winter season.

Energy analysts warn that the price increase may impact power generation and domestic gas tariffs if global prices continue to rise in the coming months.

Impact on Consumers

With winter approaching, higher LNG rates could lead to costlier electricity and heating for households and industries. Energy experts suggest that Pakistan may face additional pressure on its import bill if the upward trend in global LNG prices persists.

Background

In September, OGRA had already hinted at possible adjustments following fluctuations in the international energy market. The new rates are effective from October 16, 2025, and will remain applicable for the month unless further global market revisions occur.
